If you’re on the hunt for the best surf town in Sri Lanka, Hiriketiya is an absolute must-visit (that’s where I took the picture of all those surfboards). We spent over a month surfing and chilling on the beach here, and it’s hands down our favorite spot in Sri Lanka. If you want to find out more about it, check out our guide on where to stay in Hiriketiya.
Nuwara Eliya, with its charming tea plantations and British architecture, feels like stepping into a time capsule of colonial Sri Lanka. It’s a place where you can almost feel the British influence everywhere—it’s such a unique experience to explore! You can even enjoy a high tea at the Grand Hotel; it’s a must-try. Check out our guide on where to stay in Nuwara Eliya!
Even though Hiriketiya may be on the smaller side, the food scene here is an absolute banger! There are so many amazing cafes and restaurants that you’ll be busy for weeks just trying to sample them all. To truly dive into this culinary adventure, check out our post on The Best Restaurants in Hiriketiya.
The picture above is at Cactus, one of my absolute favorite spots for lunch and coffee! Nestled in Ahangama on Sri Lanka’s stunning south coast, it’s the perfect daytime hangout to enjoy some deliciously healthy snacks and a flat white that’ll have you reminiscing about Australia.
