We road-tripped from Brisbane to Cairns last year, and of course, we had to make a stop in the iconic beach town. Honestly, it ended up being one of our favourite spots.
With easy access to the Whitsundays and a bunch of solid caravan parks to choose from, it’s a great base whether you’re travelling in a van, towing a camper, or setting up a tent. Some parks are close to town, others feel like mini resorts, and a few are surprisingly affordable.
Here’s a roundup of the best Airlie Beach Caravan Parks, based on location, facilities, price, and what it’s actually like to stay there.

Staying at One of the Best Airlie Beach Caravan Parks – My Experience
Last year, my family flew out to visit Oliver and me in Australia, so we planned the most epic two-week road trip up the east coast. The Whitsundays and the Great Barrier Reef were a must, and after two nights out on the water, we needed a spot to crash on land.
We ended up booking NRMA Airlie Beach Holiday Park, mostly for its location and the fact that it had two pools. One where the kids could splash around, and another where my mom could actually relax with a book and a lounge chair.
Like most Aussie caravan parks, it was packed with back-to-back vans, but the grounds were massive and felt more like a resort than a campground. We stayed in one of the bungalows (because, yes, I needed a real shower and working AC after 48 hours on a boat), but the caravan area was just as impressive.
There were powered sites, loads of little laneways where kids were zooming around on bikes, splash pads, shaded BBQ spots, honestly, everything you’d want for a holiday on wheels.
5 EPIC Airlie Beach Caravan Parks
Whether you’re towing a van, rolling in with a camper, or just looking for a powered site with a decent shower, these are the best caravan parks in Airlie Beach.
We picked them based on location, facilities, and what they’re actually like to stay at. Some are great for families, others are quieter and close to the beach with a view, but all of them are solid picks for your stop in Airlie.
1. BIG4 Adventure Whitsunday Resort – Best Overall + for Families
This one’s basically a theme park disguised as a holiday park and probably the most popular Caravan Park in Airlie Beach. BIG4 Adventure Whitsunday Resort is perfect if you’re travelling with kids (or just really like waterslides).
There’s a huge lagoon-style pool, splash park, playgrounds, mini golf, outdoor movies, and the amenities are next level. Powered sites are well-kept, some even have private ensuites, and everything’s spaced out enough that it doesn’t feel crammed. They also have some large sized cabins perfect for bigger groups and condos if you’re wanting a little getaway.
It’s not walking distance to the main strip, but it’s a quick drive or bus ride into town. If you’re after comfort, convenience, and stuff to keep the kids busy for hours, this accommodation is your spot.

2. NRMA Airlie Beach Holiday Park – Best Location + Good for Groups
We stayed here with family and booked one of the six-person bungalows with two queen rooms and a bunk room, which worked perfectly. The setup gave everyone space, and we were tucked away from the busier parts of the park, so it actually felt quiet and a bit tropical.
The caravan area was packed (as most Aussie parks are), but it didn’t feel hectic. There are two pools: one for the kids to go wild, and another that’s more chill, plus splash pads, BBQ areas, and loads of space for kids to ride around on bikes. It’s also just a short drive or walk into town, so super convenient if you’re heading out on a Whitsundays tour or want to grab dinner without driving far.
Great choice if you’re travelling with a group or want a central base with solid facilities.

3. Discovery Parks Airlie Beach – Best Budget-Friendly Stay + Nature
If you’re after a quieter spot with a bit of nature around you, Discovery Parks is a great pick. It’s just outside of town, but you can easily reach it by bus if you don’t have a car.
They’ve got a good mix of powered sites and cabins from basic studios to more luxe villas. We saw a few of the villas, and honestly, they looked like little beach houses tucked into the trees. Super chill, super private.
There’s also a pool, camp kitchen, BBQs, and one very fun surprise, bird feeding at 8 am every day!! We’d never seen so many bright green parrots in one place before; they fly right in and go wild. It’s awesome!
Whether you’re camping or looking for something a bit more comfortable, this park is one of the best all-around options in Airlie, especially for the price.

4. Tasman Holiday Parks Airlie Beach – Best for Couples + Quiet Stays
Tasman Holiday Parks is right on Shute Harbour Road and is the closest holiday park to the centre of Airlie Beach. You can walk into town for a coffee at one of the cafes in Airlie Beach, grab food, or head out on a Whitsundays tour without needing to drive, making it a super convenient stay.
There’s a bit of everything here: luxury glamping tents, palm retreat tiny homes, villas, cabins, motel-style units, powered sites, and tent spots. They’re also pet-friendly, which is a big win if you’re travelling with a dog. Tasman Holiday Parks will give you the most variety if you aren’t staying in an RV or van for sure!
Personally, I think this one’s best for couples or anyone looking for a bit more privacy. The sites are more spaced out, it’s quieter than the family-focused parks, and there’s a nice range of cabins if you’re not bringing your own setup. There is a small playground and a standard pool, but it’s not really aimed at young kids, so if you’re travelling with little ones, BIG4 or NRMA might be a better fit.

5. BIG4 Whitsundays Tropical Eco Resort – Closest to the Airport
Previously known as Flametree Tourist Village, the BIG 4 resort is located in Jubilee Pocket, about a 10-minute drive from the centre of Airlie Beach. This park is a good pick if you’re after something quiet and don’t need all the bells and whistles. It’s also close to the airport, which makes it handy for early flights or a quick overnight stop.
The setup is simple but solid with Airlie Beach campsites, powered sites, eco villas, and a few pet-friendly options. There’s a swimming pool, a small playground, and a basic camp kitchen. It’s surrounded by greenery, and the rainforest setting gives it a peaceful, tucked-away feel.
That said, you’ll definitely want a car if you’re staying here, as it’s not really walkable to town or the main beaches. If you’re looking for more activities, pools, or kid-friendly facilities, the other parks on this list are better suited, but for a short, quiet stay, this is a great low-key option.
