If you’ve ever read any of my other food-related blog posts, then you probably already know that I’m a huge coffee lover. So naturally, I made it my mission, even in Koh Tao, to find the best coffee shops, breakfast spots, and cafes I could possibly find.
I’ve said this before in my “Best Restaurants in Koh Tao” article and I’ll say it here again: I was so surprised by the food scene in Koh Tao. That includes the cafes as much as the restaurants; it’s amazing here and way better than I thought it would be.
I’ve spent quite some time on this small, beautiful island, and therefore I had a lot of mornings and afternoons to try some great spots. So, if you are looking for your next brunch spot or just a coffee shop to get your caffeine fix, I’ve got my favorite 6 coffee shops and best cafes in Koh Tao right here.

The Best Cafes in Koh Tao – My Experience
I’m honestly the type of person who needs a coffee every single morning, and I want it to be good coffee.
I’ve lived in Australia for three years now, so naturally, my bar for what a good coffee should be is super high (in case you didn’t know, Australia has the best coffee scene in the world!). Because of that, I wandered out every morning in Koh Tao to find my favorite coffee or breakfast spot, and wow, I found some really good ones.
I think my personal favorite and the very first cafe I visited on the island was Dough Koh Tao. They have a full-on bakery in-house where they bake all their own sourdough, bagels, and croissants, which is incredible. It’s honestly kind of hard to beat that, to be fair. Oh and of course, their flat white was fantastic, too.
However, there were plenty of other spots I loved. Another place that I think flies a little under the radar, but one I loved, is Summer Cafe. Why did I love it so much? They have freshly baked Aussie style sausage rolls every morning which are super delicious. On top of that, the place is super pet and vegan-friendly, so it’s just a great spot overall. But I’ll be honest: it was the sausage rolls that impressed me the most.
All in all, I have to say again how impressed I was with the coffee scene here. Considering how small Koh Tao is, I found a great amount of cool cafes and coffee shops, way more than I thought I would. Koh Tao is definitely a cool spot, and I’m sure I’ll be back.
1. Dough Koh Tao // My Favorite Cafe in Koh Tao
Opening Hours: 7am-6pm
Price: $$$
My Rating: ★★★★★
Menu & Location
Numero uno on my list is my favorite cafe and breakfast spot, and I think actually also my favorite coffee I’ve had in Koh Tao. So, even though this list isn’t technically a ranking, I think Dough Koh Tao is overall my favorite place to go.
I’ve been here a couple of times now. The very first time, I only went for pastries and a takeaway coffee, the coffee was fantastic and the pastries and croissants were, oh my god, so good.
Because they have a full-size bakery in-house, they bake everything fresh right there, including their sourdough.
We actually came back the next morning for a full-on breakfast where we had the Turkish eggs and their “Big Breakfast,” and yes, it was all delicious. This is definitely my favorite brunch spot in Koh Tao!

2. Cactus Cafe & Beach Bar // Best Cafe in Koh Tao With a View
Opening Hours: 8:30am-8pm
Price: $$
My Rating: ★★★★★
Menu & Location
I honestly love Cactus Cafe in Koh Tao so much just for the location alone; the spot is unbeatable. It’s located right on the beach in Sairee, and I literally had breakfast with my feet in the sand. It was incredible and basically my perfect way to start the day.
I ended up hanging out there all morning because it’s not just a cafe, it’s also a beach bar with super comfy chairs, making it perfect for a “brunch and beach” kind of day.
Unfortunately, I only made it here once. In hindsight, I feel like I should’ve come more often! Their coffee was amazing, I had a latte which was perfect and then I also had one of their bagels.
I don’t know if they make them from scratch or get them from a bakery, but it was one of the best bagels I’ve had in a very long time. I would definitely recommend coming here.

3. Blue Shark Brunch
Opening Hours: 7am-6pm
Price: $$$
My Rating: ★★★★
Menu & Location
Blue Shark Brunch is easily the most popular brunch spot and cafe in Koh Tao, at least that was my experience based on how busy it was and the crazy amount of reviews they have on Google.
I have to admit, the hype is kind of justified because the coffee is really, really good and the brunch is super delicious. Again, I only went here once, but I really wish I’d had the time to go back because there were so many things on the menu I wanted to try.
I had the avocado and scrambled eggs on sourdough, but their bagels looked great and so did the shakshuka.
One thing to keep in mind: it was pretty packed when I was there, and by the time we left, there was actually a small line starting outside. I definitely recommend coming early if you don’t want to wait for a table!

4. Kuru Kuru Cafe
Opening Hours: 8:30am-12am
Price: $$
My Rating: ★★★★★
Menu & Location
Kuru Kuru Cafe is definitely one of the coolest places I’ve found in Koh Tao. It’s a restaurant, but it’s also a concept store, so the place just looks amazing with a mix of boho and New York vibes.
Whoever designed this spot did a great job! It’s basically half-store, selling super cool stuff like skateboard decks, t-shirts, caps, and bags. I almost ended up buying something; it’s honestly that cool.
Now, let’s get to the food. I had a flat white, and it was definitely on the stronger side with a bit of acidity, which I love. For food, I had the Turkish eggs, which were delicious and properly garlicky, just how they should be. It was actually a decent-sized portion, too. Often when I order Turkish eggs elsewhere, it isn’t the most filling breakfast, but here it was great.

5. Summer Cafe
Opening Hours: 8am-4pm
Price: $
My Rating: ★★★★
Menu & Location
Summer Cafe is a small little breakfast spot and bakery that I think flies a little under the radar, but I love it. The cafe is super pet-friendly, and they have some of the sweetest kittens and puppies hanging around.
But most importantly, and why I love it so much, is their handmade Aussie-style sausage rolls. They make them fresh every morning, and they are absolutely perfect. I’ll be honest, I didn’t have a “proper” sit-down breakfast here; I only had the sausage rolls and coffee, but honestly, that’s all I need!

6. Living Juices & Yoga
Opening Hours: 8am-4pm
Price: $$
My Rating: ★★★
Menu & Location
We came to Living Juices & Yoga one day after I picked up Carae, as she had just finished a Vinyasa yoga class there (which she said was really great). We decided to stay for breakfast afterward.
I actually didn’t have coffee here; instead, I tried one of their apple and kale smoothies, which was super yummy. We also both had an acai bowl, and it was delicious.
I can’t speak for their other food, but they do loads of healthy “Buddha-style” bowls with rice, carrots, chicken, egg, edamame, and whatever other healthy ingredients you could imagine. I reckon this is the best spot on the island for a healthy breakfast fix.
