The 8 Best Restaurants Airlie Beach Has That I Tried (And Why You Should Too!)
Airlie Beach is known as the gateway to the Great Barrier Reef and the Whitsundays. What it’s not exactly famous for is its food scene.
To be totally honest, there aren’t that many mind-blowing restaurants in town. With backpackers coming and going, chefs hopping between gigs, and a tourist-heavy crowd, it can be hit or miss when it comes to consistency.
But don’t panic. I’ve eaten my way through Airlie, chatted to locals, combed through Reddit threads (so you don’t have to), and narrowed it down to the spots that are actually worth your time and money.
From Italian pizza and pasta to seafood by the marina, here’s the best restaurants Airlie Beach has to offer for when you want more than just another Australian pub schnitty.

Top 8 Airlie Beach Restaurants You Can’t Miss
Most people only stay in Airlie for a couple of days, which is just enough time to get sunburnt and mildly obsessed with boat life.
So if you’re like us and looking for the best Airlie Beach restaurants to eat between snorkel tours and sunset cruises, this list has you covered with the best cafes, quick lunch stops, and sit-down dinners in town.

1. Sidewalk Café // Best Breakfast Food Airlie Beach
Starting off in the morning, Sidewalk Café was hands down our favorite breakfast spot in Airlie. The vibe is super casual and relaxed, plus you can sit outside and soak up the morning vibes.
When we were there, the workers were all super friendly and accommodating as we had a group of six on a Saturday morning.
The eggs benny and the big brekky were the go-tos we kept ordering. Their flat whites and mokas were velvety smooth and totally hit the spot.

2. Eastwoods // Best Places to Eat in Airlie Beach
If you’re craving some solid Southeast Asian flavors, Eastwoods is where it’s at. The spot nails that perfect balance of fresh, bold, and a little fancy, without making you feel out of place.
One of the most special things about Eastwoods is that they will cook your freshly caught fish up! We didn’t do it ourselves, but we heard some people who brought in fish they’d caught on a charter, and the chef turned it into a full-on feast. Pretty epic option if you’ve been out fishing in the Whitsundays.
If you aren’t fishing like us, I recommend the Penang Curry and the Chicken Wings & Duck in the Master Sauce! Wow, they were perfectly cooked a packed with flavor!

3. Fishi // Best Seafood Restaurants Airlie Beach
Fishi isn’t really a sit-down spot, it’s more of a seafood deli and takeaway, but it absolutely deserves a spot on this list. The fish and chips were perfectly cooked with a crispy outside and flaky inside, and the prawns were ridiculously fresh. If you’re chasing that ideal seafood feast to match the island vibes, this is the place. Grab a sashimi pack or a prawn box and eat it by the water.
Bonus tip: you can call and order 24 hours ahead and have your meals delivered straight to Hamilton Island. Such a game-changer if you’re staying out there and want something fresher (and way better) than resort food. Check out your options here!

4. Sorrento Restaurant & Bar // Best Restaurants Airlie Beach Waterfront
This was the first place we ate at when we got to Airlie, and it ended up being a solid choice. Sorrento is right on the water at the Coral Sea Marina, so you’ve got breezy ocean views and a front-row seat to all the boat action. We came in a bit too close to the lunch break, so the staff weren’t exactly buzzing with joy, but what can you do?
We ordered the barramundi and a coconut seafood curry, and both were fantastic. They also do classic pub-style stuff like pizzas, burgers, and chips if you’re in the mood for something more chill.
There’s a 2-for-1 pizza deal every day from 3 to 4, plus happy hour and live music around sunset, so it’s a solid spot to settle in for the afternoon.

5. Beagles // Best Pizza in Airlie Beach
Beagles became our favorite pizza spot in Airlie. Super casual, quick, and honestly just really good pizza. The service was consistently great every time we went, and the staff were always friendly. Thin crust is 100% the move here, crispy, cheesy, and just the right amount of greasy.
Heads up: it’s cash only if you’re ordering in person, but you can order online and pay with CC that way. We ended up doing that and picked up our pizza to take back to the hotel, paired it with a bottle of wine, and watched the sunset. No fancy dinner needed, just the perfect, easy night.

6. The Deck // One of the Most Popular Places to Eat Airlie Beach
This is probably one of the most popular places to eat in Airlie Beach, and it totally makes sense. The Deck has a laid-back, beachy vibe with plenty of outdoor seating, live music, and a menu that covers all the bases. Whether you’re in the mood for a burger, tacos, or a big breakfast, it’s got something for everyone.
Personally, I think their brunch has the best offerings. But we also came back one night and had a burger that was really yummy. It can get a bit busy (especially during lunch or on weekends), but the atmosphere is fun, and we really liked the outdoor areas.

7. Red Fish // Best Chinese Food in Airlie Beach
Red Fish might not be on everyone’s radar, but it absolutely should be. It’s a bit tucked away, just down from the marina and away from the main street, but definitely worth seeking out. We stumbled on it while walking to our hotel and decided to give it a try. It turned out to be one of our favorite meals in Airlie.
The food is Chinese and Southeast Asian-inspired, full of flavor, and really well-priced compared to other places in town. The Mongolian sizzling beef and the okra were standout dishes, but honestly, everything we had was delicious and perfectly spiced. It’s a great option when you’re after something a little different that still feels comforting and satisfying.
8. Fish D’vine // Delivery Only in Airlie Beach
When we were planning our trip to Airlie, Fish D’vine came up again and again as one of the must-try spots in town!. They’ve built a strong reputation for fresh seafood and their iconic rum bar and it was delicious. But since we last visited they’ve now shifted to offering catering for functions and delivery only.
If you’re in the mood for a great meal without leaving your Airbnb, this is a fantastic option. Their seafood is still top-notch, and the convenience can’t be beat. From what I’ve seen, the best way to stay updated on their current menu and delivery schedule bookings & opening hours is through their Facebook page. Worth checking out if you want a restaurant-quality dining experience at home.
