When you’re deciding where to stay on the Albanian Riviera, look no further than Dhërmi. This charming village is one of the most underrated destinations in Albania! Everyone is either headed to Sarande or Ksamil, while Dhërmi is often overlooked. But that’s what makes it so special—it’s a hidden gem waiting to be discovered.
From stunning beaches and crystal-clear waters to delicious local cuisine and rich cultural history, Dhërmi has something for everyone. And the best part? You don’t have to break the bank to enjoy all that this beautiful village has to offer.
Here are some of the best hotels in Dhermi Albania that offer affordable stays for every type of traveler.
Discovering Where to Stay in Dhërmi Albania
Before traveling to Albania, I had never even heard of this small coastal town. But after doing some research and talking to locals, I quickly discovered that Dhërmi is a popular vacation spot for Albanians, and for good reason.
The village has amazing views of the Ionian Sea, with white sand beaches and crystal-clear turquoise water. And because it’s less popular than its neighboring towns, you can easily feel like a local and truly immerse yourself in the culture.
Dhërmi is more than just a picturesque beach destination. It also has a rich cultural history dating back to the Illyrian times. You can visit ancient ruins, hike through olive groves, and explore traditional Albanian villages nearby.

Getting to Dhërmi
Dhermi is perfectly located along Albania’s beautiful coastline and is easy to reach:
- From Vlorë: A 1.5-hour drive from this coastal town.
- North of Himare: Only a 30-minute drive.
- From Tirana: About 4 hours by car from the capital.
- By Plane: The nearest major hub is Albania International Airport, 3.5 hours away by car.
Once in Dhermi, you can explore more of the Albanian Riviera:
- Nearby Towns: Visit Sarandë or Himara, both accessible by local buses.
- Transportation Options: Rent a car, use buses, or book private transport for a smooth journey.
Dhermi’s location makes it a great base to enjoy the stunning beaches and discover the beauty of southern Albania.
Throughout our trip, we relied entirely on buses for transportation. From Berat, we managed to catch a direct bus to Dhermi. While the ride was crowded and uncomfortably warm, once we arrived in Dhermi, we were able to book shorter, more spacious buses for the remainder of our journey down the coast.

Frequently Asked Questions
Should I go to Himare or Dhermi?
Himare and Dhermi are both amazing beach spots in Albania, and the choice really comes down to what you’re into. If you’re after a quieter, more laid-back vibe surrounded by nature, Dhermi might be your best bet. But if you’re looking for a livelier scene with more restaurants, bars, and things to do, Himare could be the way to go.
