Malaysia Travel Guide

Malaysia is actually one of those countries that I think is pretty underrated. It’s incredibly easy to travel around, the food is insanely good (I’m still thinking about that laksa), and the mix of cultures makes everything feel really unique. Whether we were wandering through the old streets of George Town in Penang, hiking in the Cameron Highlands, or spotting wildlife along the Kinabatangan River in Borneo, Malaysia somehow managed to really impress us. Spotting actual wild Orangutans was definitely one of the most unique things we had done to this point!

Where to Stay in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia: My Top Areas & Hotels in 2025

For a lot of people, myself included, Kuala Lumpur often ends up being the gateway into Southeast Asia. Flights from Europe or Australia frequently stop over or connect here, so chances are, you’ll pass through at some point. Whenever that’s the case for me, I usually make it a habit to stay for at least…

Rainforest Discovery Center Sepilok: My Honest Review 2025

I’m sure you already know about Sepilok in Sandakan and the orangutan sanctuary, I probably don’t need to tell you about that. But what you might not know is that there’s more to do in Sepilok than just visiting the orangutans. The Rainforest Discovery Center is also located in Sepilok, just outside of Sandakan, and…

Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Center: My Honest Review in 2025

I just wrapped up my two-week Borneo adventure, and now I’m trying to pull together all sorts of guides and reviews based on my experience there, mainly because when I was planning my trip, I felt like there wasn’t much actual good information out there. Blog posts and travel guides were pretty limited, so now…

Where to Stay in Kota Kinabalu Borneo: My Top Areas & Hotels in 2025

Kota Kinabalu is the gateway to Borneo, and if you’re anything like me, you’re probably flying into Kota Kinabalu too, at least that’s how my trip started. How to Get From Kota Kinabalu to Sandakan (or Sepilok): My Travel Guide 2025

Getting from Kota Kinabalu to Sandakan is one of those classic Borneo travel routes most people end up doing at some point, especially if you’re here for the orangutans. I did the same. I flew into Kota Kinabalu without realizing I could’ve flown straight into Sandakan (rookie mistake), and then had to make my way…

The 9 Best Things to Do in Borneo Malaysia 2025

Like I’ve mentioned in a few of my other Borneo guides already, this island is packed with things to do. And honestly, that’s the reason most people come here. Borneo is not the place for all-inclusive beach lounging. It’s for exploring, spotting wildlife, climbing mountains, and getting properly into nature. What I loved most was…

The Kinabatangan Wildlife Sanctuary isn’t just one of Borneo’s top wildlife destinations, it’s honestly one of the best places in all of Asia to spot animals in the wild. How to Get to Kinabatangan River Sabah: Best Travel Tips & My Experience in 2025

Kinabatangan River, located deep in the rainforests of Sabah (that’s Malaysian Borneo, in East Asia if you’re still figuring out the geography), was definitely one of the best places I’ve ever visited for seeing wildlife. Orangutans swinging through the trees, proboscis monkeys doing their weird little nose thing, hornbills flying overhead, and if you’re lucky,…

Where to Stay Kinabatangan River Borneo: My Top Areas and Lodges in 2025

The Kinabatangan River was for sure the highlight of my time traveling through Borneo. It’s this stretch of mostly untouched rainforest, full of incredible wildlife, and I had the best time staying along the river and heading out on multiple cruises to spot orangutans and (hopefully) elephants. When I was planning my own trip, I…
