The 7 Best Places to Stay in Kuta Lombok: My 7 Favorite Hotels 2026

Lombok is officially Bali’s younger, cooler sibling right next to it on the map. From what I’ve seen, it’s definitely going to become more and more popular over the next few years, especially with Bali feeling so overrun lately. Many people, including myself, are opting for this neighboring island instead.

I just spent a full two months in Lombok, specifically in a small surf town called Kuta Lombok, and honestly, I had the most amazing experience there. Because of that, I’ve decided to put together a bunch of travel guides on Kuta to help you guys plan your next trip.

Today, I want to talk specifically about the best places to stay in Kuta Lombok. I personally checked into a few different hotels while I was there, and I was genuinely surprised by how beautiful and high-quality they were. So, let’s get into it!

Best Places to Stay in Kuta Lombok – My Experience

I arrived in Kuta Lombok with a plan to stay for over two months. I was looking for a place to really lay low, get some work done, chill out, and just have a good time. I’d never been to Kuta Lombok before, so booking it was definitely a bit of a gamble, but everything turned out to be amazing.

Of course, I didn’t stay in hotels the entire time. At one point, I moved into a cute little villa with a pool, but before I found that place to stay, I had to hotel-hop a bit around town. Looking back, I’m actually glad I did because the places I stayed at were so beautiful, super aesthetic, and honestly crazy cheap.

My absolute favorites were Origin Lombok and El Tropico. Both are small boutique hotels with dreamy pools. They have a similar vibe, and since I’m not a huge fan of massive resorts or big, impersonal hotels, I absolutely loved them. I only stayed two nights at each of them but I easily could’ve done two weeks of vacationing at either of those hotels. If you’re the same, you should definitely check them out.

Looking back, I personally had a much better experience in Kuta Lombok than anywhere in Bali. To me, Kuta felt like a “Mini Canggu” or Seminyak, but way more relaxed. Kuta has so many amazing restaurants that I obsessed over, I went surfing every week, visited the beaches constantly, and everything was super affordable.

Most importantly, it wasn’t overrun! That’s why I recommend visiting sooner rather than later. I’ve seen the amount of construction and development happening, and I’m pretty sure that in 5–10 years, Kuta Lombok will be a lot more like Bali.

My 7 Top Hotels in Kuta Lombok

1. Origin Lombok (I Stayed Here for 2 Nights and I Loved it!)

Even though this list isn’t a ranking, I’m still going to start with my absolute favorite place I stayed: Origin Lombok.

Honestly, I don’t even know where to start. From the moment I arrived, I was just so amazed by the design, the whole place is just stunning. It’s surrounded by lush, tropical gardens, has a super clean aesthetic, and the pool area is so beautiful that I easily could’ve spent my entire day just lounging there.

I originally had their Deluxe Room booked, but I actually got upgraded to a villa, which was such a nice treat. While the villa was incredible, I’m convinced the experience would’ve been amazing either way.

One thing to keep in mind is that the location is a little further out from the main Kuta Lombok center (it’s about an 8-minute drive). I had a scooter for my entire two months in Kuta, which was a total non-negotiable for me, and I’d definitely recommend you do the same if you stay here.

2. El Tropico Boutique Hotel

As much as I loved staying at Origin Lombok, for my next two nights, I wanted somewhere a little more central so I could walk to restaurants and wouldn’t always have to rely on my scooter. That’s when I decided to move to El Tropico, which is officially one of my favorite spots in Kuta Lombok.

El Tropico has a really cool boutique vibe with a fantastic pool and loads of beautiful sunbeds. It’s a little less “jungle-green” than Origin, but still stunning.

I had a standard double room there, which was really nice, nothing overly fancy, but honestly, it was fantastic considering how cheap it was. I think I paid around 60 USD a night when I was there, so it was amazing value for money.

3. Tampah Hills

Next up is a place I haven’t actually stayed at myself, but I’ve seen it so many times, when riding my scooter around the island, that I just had to include it.

Tampah Hills offers high-end villas located right on the hillside, with the most incredible views over the ocean and the Lombok coastline. The architecture is genuinely mind-blowing; the villas have such unique, modern designs that you can tell they were really well thought out.

I didn’t stay here because most of the villas are massive (typically for groups of 6–12), so it didn’t make sense for a solo trip.

However, if you’re traveling with a big family or a group of friends, this is a super cool alternative to a standard hotel. I checked out their pricing, and while it’s definitely not “cheap,” if you fill the villa and split the cost per person, it actually works out to be surprisingly reasonable for what you get!

I feel like this picture shows pretty well how incredible the villas at Tampah Hills are!

4. Sikara Lombok Hotel

Next up is Sikara Lombok. I did stay here myself, but only for my very last night in Lombok because my flight got pushed back by a day and I needed a last-minute place to stay. I’m mentioning this because I didn’t get to spend much time here, I think I checked in around 4 or 5 PM, lounged by the pool for an hour, grabbed dinner, and then had to head out early the next morning.

However, from what I saw during that limited time, it’s a really lovely property. The staff were super friendly and accommodating, and they even sorted out my airport transfer for me. The pool is gorgeous, the rooms are very modern and chic, and the location is fantastic for getting around. I could definitely imagine this being one of the places I’d stay at again whenever I come back to Kuta Lombok in the future.

5. Somewhere Lombok

The next place on my list is one I haven’t actually stayed at yet, but I wanted to include it because I know many of you are looking for something a little more unique or upscale. While the other places to stay I’ve mentioned are mostly boutique hotels under 100 USD a night, Somewhere Lombok is the place to look if you want a true treat.

It’s an incredible boutique hotel with beautiful private villas. Unlike Tampah Hills, which is geared toward big groups, the villas at Somewhere are perfect for couples, honeymoons, or anyone craving a relaxed, intimate vacation.

Because it’s located up on a hill, the ocean views are absolutely breathtaking. It’s an incredibly high-quality property with amazing reviews, and if I had a bigger budget, I would for sure stay here for a couple of nights to just soak up that luxury.

6. Porter Boutique Hotel

Porter Boutique Hotel is actually where I originally wanted to stay because a friend recommended it to me, but unfortunately, it was booked out for my entire time in Kuta Lombok, so it must be incredibly popular.

My friend told me it is a beautiful hotel, super green, lush, and nestled right in nature, with an amazing pool and beautiful rooms.

The main reason I wanted to stay at this hotel is that they offer quite a lot beyond just your standard room. They host two daily yoga classes, and even though I’ve been doing more Pilates lately, I still love yoga and would have enjoyed those sessions.

The hotel also organizes surf lessons with transfers included, and I think having yoga and surfing combined in such a cool location would have been a perfect way to spend my trip.

7. Rascals Hotel

Last on my list is a place I haven’t stayed at myself and didn’t have a personal recommendation for; I found Rascals Hotel while doing my own research online for places that looked high-quality and worth booking. I decided to include this hotel specifically because it is an adults-only accommodation.

I wouldn’t necessarily say that Kuta Lombok is a major destination for families, but I did have a situation while living in my villa where my neighbors were a family with two young kids who were screaming all day. I love kids, but I definitely could have done without the noise! Of course, families should be able to vacation wherever they want, but I totally understand why someone would prefer an adults-only hotel for a more relaxed experience.

Rascals is really pretty with a beautiful garden, a nice pool, and chic rooms. Honestly, it isn’t even expensive; it’s in the same price range as the other boutique hotels on my list. If you are looking for an adults-only place to stay, this is a great hotel to check out.

FAQs About Where to Stay in Kuta Lombok

Where to stay in Lombok?

There are quite a few nice areas all over Lombok, but my favorite part of the whole island was definitely Kuta. It has amazing surfing, great boutique hotels, and loads of amazing restaurants, cafes, and beaches.

What is the best hotel in Kuta Lombok?

My absolute favorite is Origin Lombok because it is such a peaceful hotel with a beautiful pool and garden, and it is super affordable at the same time. However, Somewhere Lombok is definitely a little more upscale and unique, and I would totally stay at that hotel if I had a bigger budget.

Is Lombok worth visiting?

I definitely think so! I love Lombok for its natural beauty, waterfalls, volcanoes, and beaches, and I had the best time I could’ve ever imagined staying in Kuta Lombok. However, from a sightseeing point of view, I think Bali has a little more to offer.

Is Lombok expensive?

Absolutely not. For accommodation, I think Lombok offers some of the best value for money I have experienced recently. Food is high quality and inexpensive, as are scooter rentals and surfboard rentals, so overall, it is a very affordable holiday in my opinion, and I am sure I will be back soon.

Final Thoughts on the Best Hotels in Kuta Lombok

I have said it a couple of times now, but I really have to say it again: some of the best value for money I have had anywhere in Indonesia was definitely here in Lombok.

Yes, I know Bali, especially Ubud, can be inexpensive, but here in Kuta, I stayed at such beautiful boutique hotels for only 40 USD a night, which is crazy to me.

I love Kuta Lombok; it is for sure one of my favorite beach towns I have visited within the past year, and I can only recommend coming to visit here if you are looking for a Bali-type vacation but you don’t like the overtourism.

I hope my little guide on the best places to stay in Kuta Lombok could give you a rough idea of what some good hotels in Lombok look like!
