The 11 BEST Restaurants Caye Caulker Has to Offer: Local Favorites You Can’t Miss

Last Updated on March 29, 2025 by Oliver

Finding the perfect place to eat has always been a double-edged sword. On one hand, I spend hours reading reviews, scrolling through menus, and overanalyzing Google ratings like it’s my job. On the other hand, I almost always end up at the best spots. So was it really wasted time? (Absolutely not.)

Me and my four girlfriends spent a whole week on Caye Caulker, which meant a lot of meals and plenty of time to fully dive into the local food scene. And let me tell you—it did not disappoint. From the spots we went to every single day (Ice and Beans, we love you) to the dinners we splurged on when the sunset just hit right, this list has it all.

These aren’t just random recommendations—I actually ate at every single one of these restaurants Caye Caulker has. Some were planned, others were “I’m starving and need something now” pop ins, but all of them were so worth it.

If you’re wondering where to eat in Caye Caulker, here’s everywhere I’d go again in a heartbeat.

Where to Eat in Caye Caulker

Caye Caulker is such a small island, but it brings some serious flavor. Whether you’re here for a quick getaway or settling into full island mode, these restaurants will keep you well-fed. From cheap and casual eats to seafood dinners worth the splurge, these were our absolute favorites for the best food on the island.

Namaste Café // Best Healthy Breakfast on Caye Caulker + Morning Yoga

Opening Hours: 7:30am-2:30pm
Price: $
My Rating: ★★★★
Menu & Location

Before arriving, I had already looked up if there was any yoga on the island since I had my mat with me, and of course, Namaste Cafe popped up. This café is the definition of island life—a three-story, open-air bungalow with a laid-back atmosphere and fresh, healthy food.

Every morning started the same way: 8 AM yoga, a little sweat and zen, then straight to breakfast for an iced coffee and something fresh. My go-to was the banana peanut butter bagel with a side of fresh fruit, and it was perfect every time. After weeks of tacos in Mexico, the mix of nutty, sweet, and fresh flavors was exactly what I needed.

They also have an excellent Greek salad for lunch, and it was the perfect light lunch for those days when the island sun felt like it was suffocating me.

It can be a bit pricey for breakfast, but the quality, the setting, and the whole experience make it worth it.

Kareem’s Umbelizable Grill // Flavor-Packed Seafood and BBQ with a View

Opening Hours: 11:30am-5:00pm Closed on Monday
Price: $
My Rating: ★★★★★
Menu & Location

Walking down the main street toward The Split, you’ll see a row of local BBQ spots on the left, all sending up mouthwatering clouds of smoke. They all looked incredible, but we stopped at Kareem’s after seeing some great reviews—and wow. This place became a daily stop.

Kareem works the grill like an artist, turning out plates of freshly grilled shrimp skewers, coconut rice, crisp salad, and jerk-style BBQ chicken. Every bite was packed with smoky, spicy, island-style flavor. Hands down, the best street food meal on the island.

And if it’s Lobster season well there is no competition, the grilled lobster dipped in melted butter is a MUST TRY.

Ice and Beans Café // Island-Famous Iced Coffee + Fresh Bagels

Opening Hours: 6:00am-6:00pm
Price: $
My Rating: ★★★★★
Menu & Location

Ice and Beans is pretty much everyone’s favorite beachfront café, and I came here more times than I’d like to admit. But when a place is this good, how can you not? From the moment I walked in, they handed me free mini donuts and a coffee sample, and I was sold.

The iced coffee is next-level refreshing, but the real star for me was the egg, bacon, and cheese bagel—simple, satisfying, and even better with a drizzle of local Marie’s hot sauce. If you’re craving something sweet, go all in with a tower of cinnamon sugar donuts. With your feet in the sand and the waves crashing behind you, I don’t think breakfast gets much better than this.

Reina’s // One of the Best Restaurants Caye Caulker has to offer for Authentic Belizean Food

Opening Hours: 5:00pm-10:00pm closed on Sundays
Price: $$
My Rating: ★★★★★
Menu & Location

Okay, so my photos don’t look the most appetizing, but do not let that fool you—this was some of the most delicious food. Tucked away in a small outdoor space with plastic tables and a super laid-back vibe, Reina’s is as low-key as it gets but delivers some of the best meals on the island.

Since there were four of us, we ordered a little bit of everything. The jerk chicken, curry snapper, and coconut curry chicken were all standouts. At one point, we even saw a few guys hauling in massive catches, which meant the fish was as fresh as it gets. And it’s all at reasonable prices.

And just to set your expectations, the restaurant service is slow, but with a super friendly staff. It’s just the way of the island, so just grab a beer and relax.

Lazy Lizard // The Ultimate Beach Bar

Opening Hours: 10:00am-8:00pm
Price: $$
My Rating: ★★★★
Menu & Location

Not just for sunsets—Lazy Lizard is an anytime, any-mood kind of spot. We didn’t eat here (and honestly, I’m not convinced the it has great food), but this place makes the list for two very important reasons: Lizard Juice and the unbeatable vibe.

We probably ended up here every single day. The first time, we split a jug of Lizard Juice, and that was it—we were hooked. Is it the best-tasting drink? Not really. It’s super sweet, but after one cup, you don’t care. You can hang out in the water when it’s scorching hot or stop by for a sunset beer with front-row seats to the best view on the island. Either way, Lazy Lizard is a must.

Errolyn’s House of Fry Jacks // The Best Fry Jacks on the Island

Opening Hours: 6:30am-1:00pm
Price: $
My Rating: ★★★★
Menu & Location

Errolyn’s was such a short walk from our house that it was almost dangerous. Fry jacks are a deep fried dough stuffed with all kinds of things. Basically, Belize’s answer to the breakfast burrito, but fried and even more addictive.

Errolyn’s is a tiny shack with a few seats on the porch. The setup is simple: walk up to the counter, pick your fillings, wait for them to call your name, and get ready for one of the best (and cheapest) meals on the island. I always got mine stuffed with beans, cheese, and eggs, then loaded it up with Marie’s hot sauce for extra flavor.

A fully loaded fry jack costs about 6-10 Belizean dollars ($3-5 USD), making it a go-to breakfast for both budget travelers and anyone recovering from one too many rum punches the night before.

Jenny’s // Best Cheap Eats for a Grab-and-Go Breakfast

Opening Hours: 5:00am-1:00pm
Price: $
My Rating: ★★★★
Menu & Location

For a quick, budget-friendly breakfast with plenty of food options , Jenny’s is the spot. Similar to Errolyn’s but even more local and cheaper, this tiny takeout stand serves up fry jacks and breakfast burritos that are perfect for grabbing on the go.

Everything here is takeout only, making it an easy choice for early mornings. We stopped by on our way to a snorkeling tour, loaded up on fresh, hot fry jacks, and had the perfect meal without breaking the bank.

The 11 BEST Restaurants Caye Caulker Has to Offer: Local Favorites You Can’t Miss

Caye Caulker Bakery // Fresh Pastries and Bread Every Morning

Opening Hours: 7:30am-11:30am & 2:30pm-7:00pm Closed on Sundays
Price: $
My Rating: ★★★
Menu & Location

I’m not huge on sweets for breakfast since I usually go for something savory, but the cinnamon rolls here were too good to pass up. They cost just a few bucks and were soft, fluffy, and not dense like a lot of bread you find in Central America.

Walking up, I actually thought I was in the wrong spot. The building is pretty run-down with bars on the windows, but the smell of fresh bread let me know I was in the right place. This is a no-frills, local bakery that’s great for picking up fresh bread and pastries to snack on throughout the day. Their sign says they’re famous for their cinnamon rolls, and I get why.

If you’re staying on the island for a while, it’s worth stopping by in the mornings. For a sit-down breakfast, though, there are better options if you’re only here for a few days.

The Pelican Sunset Bar // Seafood + Cocktails with an Oceanfront View

Opening Hours: 10:00am-10:00pm
Price: $$
My Rating: ★★★
Menu & Location

We came here after visiting the stingrays on our first night, and it was the perfect welcome to the island. Sitting by the water with fresh ceviche and ice-cold rum punches, the trip was already off to a magical start.

The ceviche was super fresh and limey, exactly what hit the spot after a long travel day. The rum punches flowed easily, and this ended up being the first of many over the week. The ocean breeze, chill atmosphere, and sunset views made this an easy spot to keep coming back to.

Whether for a laid-back seafood dinner or just a few drinks by the water, it’s one of the best places to slow down and soak up the island.

The 11 BEST Restaurants Caye Caulker Has to Offer: Local Favorites You Can’t Miss

Pasta Per Caso // The Best Handmade Pasta on Caye Caulker

Opening Hours: 5:30pm-9:00pm Closed Monday & Tuesday
Price: $$$
My Rating: ★★★★★
Menu & Location

We came here on our last night on the island, and it was the perfect way to wrap up the trip. We had tried earlier in the week but quickly learned that a reservation is a must—this place fills up fast.

The menu changes daily, with just a few pasta options, but every dish is made fresh and packed with flavor. The night we went, there was a squid ink pasta with loads of fresh prawns, and it was incredible. The portions were solid, the ingredients were fresh, and it felt like a home-cooked meal in the best way. For anyone craving pasta on the island, this is the spot.

Il Pellicano Cucina Italiana // Hidden Gem for Italian Food & Live Music

Opening Hours: 5:00pm-9:00pm Closed on Monday
Price: $
My Rating: ★★★
Menu & Location

This spot never popped up in my research, but stumbling upon it was pure magic. Tucked away on a side street on the west side of the island, we heard a beautiful voice singing and playing guitar as we walked by after sunset, and it immediately pulled us in.

With twinkling fairy lights and an open-air setup, Il Pellicano has one of the best atmospheres on the island. It feels more upscale and intimate than most spots, making it a great place for a slower, sit-down dinner with good wine and live music. Whether you’re craving homemade pasta dishes, fresh seafood, or just a cozy place to unwind, this place is a hidden gem worth finding.

More Great Caye Caulker Restaurants

While I didn’t make it to these spots for any meals, they have some great reviews and were highly recommended by locals! Defintiely worth checking out if you have the time.

Iguana Reef Inn // Sunset drinks + stingray spotting

The best place to grab a drink while watching stingrays and nurse sharks glide through the water right by the dock. The sunset views here are unreal, and the atmosphere is perfect for winding down after a day in the sun.

Maggie’s Sunset Kitchen // Fresh seafood with a view

A nice spot for local specialties like grilled lobster, garlic butter shrimp, stewed chicken and fresh fish, all served with a perfect view of the sunset. The portions are big, the flavors are bold, and the setting is relaxed.

Wish Willy Bar & Grill // Chill backyard BBQ vibes

More of a backyard cookout than a restaurant, with grilled seafood, jerk chicken, and cold beers served in a casual setting. The owner, Willy, keeps things fun, and it’s the kind of place where meals turn into long, easygoing nights.

Paradiso Cafe // Cozy cafe with great coffee and snacks

A cute little spot with strong coffee, fresh smoothies, and light bites perfect for a mid-morning break. The vibe is super relaxed, with comfy seating and a mix of locals and travelers hanging out. Great place to chill with a book or catch up on some travel planning.

Barrier Reef Sports Bar // Lively bar with great food and live music

The go-to spot for cold beers, pub-style food, and a fun crowd. They’ve got live music, trivia nights, and sports on TV, making it one of the best places to hang out after a day in the sun. The wings and burgers are solid, and the energy here is always great.

Final Thoughts on Caye Caulker’s Best Restaurants

After a week of eating our way around the island, we found some unforgettable spots. From quick, cheap eats like Errolyn’s and Jenny’s to amazing fresh seafood and handmade pasta, every meal was a win.

Some places became daily rituals (Ice and Beans was basically home), while others were perfect for a special night (Pasta Per Caso was worth the wait). No matter how long you’re here, these restaurants will make sure you’re eating well and living the island life right.
