Lola Valentina is my absolute favorite restaurant on Isla Mujeres. I don’t leave the island without eating here, it’s that good. You’ll find it right in the middle of Avenida Hidalgo, surrounded by busy bars and souvenir shops, so it’s easy to assume it’s just another tourist spot… but trust me, it’s not. The food here is incredible.

I always start with the Mexican fondue, which is basically melted cheese heaven served with homemade tortillas. Then it’s straight to the surf and turf, the arrachera steak might be one of my favorite dishes ever. It’s tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned, while the shrimp are plump and loaded with flavor thanks to the chimichurri sauce. And don’t even get me started on the potatoes. This is hands down my most visited place to eat on Isla Mujeres. When you’re walking around the island, a lot of places can feel a little fancy or touristy, but Taqueria Los Burritos is that perfect low-key spot for a quick bite that still feels local.

The prices are super fair, especially considering it’s in the heart of the tourist zone; we’re talking around 30 pesos per taco. I always order the al pastor tacos with cheese, plus some chips and guacamole on the side. Their horchata is also so good, it’s sweet, cold, and exactly what you want on a hot Isla day.

Each order comes with a full DIY setup: salsas, limes, onions, and cilantro on the side so you can build your tacos exactly how you like them. If you want authentic tacos at a local price, this place is a must.

Café Mogagua is my go-to spot for a delicious breakfast on Isla Mujeres. It’s this cute little café with an indoor/outdoor setup that feels super relaxed and breezy.

When I visited Isla Mujeres over Christmas and New Year’s, I was literally at El Patio every single night. The live band played everything from 80s hits to rock and roll classics, the kind of music that just makes you want to dance even if you swore you “don’t dance.”

The energy here is so contagious. Everyone’s smiling, singing along, and drinking frozen mango margaritas (which are ridiculously good, by the way). If you’re looking for something a little different from lounging on the sand all day, head south to Kin Ha. It’s technically part of a hotel, but the restaurant is open to everyone, and honestly, it’s one of my favorite spots on the whole island.

There’s a floating dock, rope swings, snorkels, and all kinds of fun stuff to keep you entertained between margaritas. I’ve been here so many times they know me by name, which probably says a lot about how much I love this place.

Is Isla Mujeres worth visiting?
