The Best Cafes in Osaka: My Top 7 Coffee Shops & Cafes 2026
In case you didn’t know this about me, I absolutely love a good flat white or pour over coffee. Give me a cute little café, solid coffee, and a calm vibe, and I’m happy. Wherever I travel, I make it my mission to hunt down the best coffee spots in the city.
Luckily, Japan has an incredible coffee culture, and Osaka is no exception. The city is packed with great neighborhoods full of cafés, specialty roasters, and cozy little coffee shops that are actually worth seeking out.
I spent several days in Osaka exploring different areas, hopping from café to café, and trying everything from drip coffee to flat whites and amazing breakfasts and cakes.
In this guide, I’m sharing the best cafes in Osaka, or at least the ones I personally loved the most, so you don’t have to rely on 7-Eleven coffee every morning (even though, yes, I definitely did that too more than once).

What are the Best Cafes in Osaka? I’ve Got the Answers
I spent quite a few days exploring Osaka, and because I love a good cafe that much, I usually made it a rule to try at least one new coffee shop a day. I mean, I need my daily caffeine fix anyway, so I might as well hunt down a cute little café while I’m at it.
The good news is that great cafés in Osaka are pretty easy to find. My absolute favorite area for café hopping is Nakazakicho, which is packed with small alleyways, independent coffee shops, and a really creative, local vibe. That said, there are amazing cafés all over Osaka if you keep your eyes open.
The very first café I went to in Osaka was Yatt in Nakazakicho, and it instantly became one of my favorites. I actually ended up there because the café I originally wanted to visit had a long line out the door, so Yatt was my plan B. Turns out, it was a very good plan B. The coffee was excellent, the space was super cozy, and we got lucky and snagged a table. I also had a really yummy breakfast here, which honestly isn’t always easy to find in Japan if you’re craving something more Western-style like eggs and bacon. If you’re after a proper breakfast with great coffee, Yatt is a fantastic choice.
Another favorite of mine was Brooklyn Roasting Company in Namba, where I had amazing coffee and really good sandwiches. I’ve noticed that many cafés in Osaka, and Japan in general, often focus mostly on coffee, maybe with a few pastries on the side, but not always full-on breakfasts. That’s why I’m always extra happy when I find a café that actually serves proper food.

1. Yatt Nakazakicho // My Favorite Cafe in Osaka
Opening Hours: 10am-8pm
Price: $$
My Rating: ★★★★★
Menu & Location
My favorite café in Osaka is definitely Yatt. I already mentioned it above, but it also happens to be one of the very first cafés I visited in the city and I loved it straight away. The atmosphere is super chill and cozy, the coffee is genuinely good, and most importantly (for me), they serve proper breakfast.
When I was there, I had a flat white and eggs with bacon, and honestly, it hit the spot. I know that sounds pretty basic, but I found it surprisingly hard to find a proper “Western-style” breakfast at cafés in Japan.
From my experience, most places focus on coffee and sweet baked goods, but full breakfast plates are rare. That’s exactly why Yatt earned a top spot on this list.

2. Neel Nakazakicho // Amazing Cafe in Osaka for Brunch
Opening Hours: 10am-8pm
Price: $$$
My Rating: ★★★★
Menu & Location
Another one of my favorite cafés in Japan is Neel. The first time I tried to go, there was a long line out the door and I was way too hungry to wait, so I skipped it. I came back the next day though and it was absolutely worth it. I loved it so much that I even went to their Tokyo location a couple of weeks later.
I’ll admit it though, I first saw Neel on Instagram and wanted to check it out, and I’d say it mostly lives up to the hype. I wouldn’t wait forever in line for it, but if there’s no (or only a short) queue, it’s 100% worth going.
The café is super cute, the coffee is excellent, and their sandwiches are the real highlight. I tried the pork cutlet sandwich one time and the pork katsu sandwich another time, classic Japanese-style sandwiches and absolutely delicious. Perfect brunch material.

3. Brooklyn Roasting Company
Opening Hours: 9am-8pm
Price: $$
My Rating: ★★★★★
Menu & Location
I know I’ve been going on about sandwiches a lot, but I’ll happily do it one more time because I really enjoyed the breakfast at Brooklyn Roasting Company. Yes, they serve proper food, which is always a huge plus, but the coffee here is genuinely very good as well.
They have a few locations around the city. I went to the Namba one since it was close to my hotel, and because I like to start my day with a coffee and a quick bite, I ended up coming here a couple of times in the morning before heading out to explore Osaka.
If you’re staying in Namba, this is an easy place to kick off your day.

4. Nowa Coffee Roastery // Best Coffee Shop in Osaka
Opening Hours: 11am-7pm
Price: $$
My Rating: ★★★
Menu & Location
I ended up at Nowa Coffee Roastery more or less by coincidence after visiting Osaka Tenmangu Shrine, and honestly, those are often my favorite finds. I was craving a coffee after the shrine, and Nowa was exactly what I needed.
The place is tiny, with a small roastery and a small coffee shop attached. The coffee was excellent and I had a hot latte. You can also buy their own beans here, which makes for a great souvenir if you’re into bringing coffee home.
It’s actually one of my personal favorite souvenirs: coffee beans from all over the world, either for myself or as gifts for friends. If you’re already visiting the shrine or passing through the area, this spot is absolutely worth a short detour.
5. Whitebird
Opening Hours: 11am-11pm
Price: $$$
My Rating: ★★★★
Menu & Location
I personally really like Whitebird, even though I had a few friends who didn’t love it quite as much, but hear me out. This is a very Japanese-style coffee shop, which mainly means pour-over and drip coffee rather than espresso-based drinks like lattes or flat whites.
I’m into that style of coffee, but it’s definitely a place where I’d say: go and make up your own mind. This isn’t a café I’d come to first thing in the morning. For me, it’s more of a mid-afternoon stop, around 3 or 4 pm, when you’re ready for something sweet.
They serve a type of flan, a classic Japanese-style custard dessert, which was super yummy. You’ll also find other desserts like cake or tiramisu. I really enjoyed sitting down here with a coffee and a sweet treat.
That said, if you’re very much a flat white or latte person, this might not be your favorite spot, and that’s totally fine.

6.Pauhana Coffee
Opening Hours: 10am-5pm
Price: $$
My Rating: ★★★
Menu & Location
Another coffee shop in Nakazakicho is Pauhana Coffee, and yes, I know, half of this list seems to be on the same street. Not my fault they’re all clustered right here.
Pauhana is a tiny coffee shop set inside a container, but they make really good coffee. If I were you, I’d plan some time to explore this area on foot and just hop between a few cafés.
I only stopped by Pauhana once, but I really enjoyed it and it stuck with me. I had a flat white and one of their brownies, which was super tasty. It’s a very no-fuss kind of place, but it does exactly what it’s supposed to do, which is why I’d happily recommend it.
7. SOT Coffee Roaster
Opening Hours: 10am-7pm
Price: $$$
My Rating: ★★★★
Menu & Location
Last but not least, another coffee shop I really enjoyed was SOT Coffee Roaster. The location I visited was very close to Osaka Castle, so it’s a great stop either before or after wandering around the grounds.
The coffee here was excellent. They also had cheesecake that looked amazing, I didn’t try it, but I was very tempted. The interior has a more industrial, warehouse-style feel, so it’s not necessarily somewhere I’d go to settle in for hours.
That said, the coffee was spot on. For a takeaway latte while walking around Osaka Castle, this place is perfect.
