The Best Hotel in Siargao: My Review of Las Palmas Villas and Casitas

Last Updated on May 10, 2025 by Oliver

It’s no secret that Siargao is my favorite place in the Philippines. If you’ve read any of my other posts, you already know I can’t shut up about how much I love this island. I spent two months here—working, exploring, and slowing down—and honestly, I’d go back in a heartbeat.

So for this one, I’m talking about accommodation Siargao. But instead of giving you a long list of hotels (because let’s be real, that usually doesn’t help much), I’m giving you the answer you’re probably looking for: the best hotel in Siargao.

In my opinion, that’s Las Palmas Villas and Casitas.

It’s hands-down my favorite place I stayed on the island. It’s stylish and beautiful without being over-the-top or pretentious. I booked two nights there as a little farewell treat before leaving Siargao, and in this post, I’m sharing exactly what it’s like, my own experience and whether it’s worth the splurge, and if I’d stay there again.

What Are the Best Resorts and Luxury Hotels in Siargao?

Before I get into my favorite hotel in Siargao, I know a lot of people wonder what the accommodation scene is actually like. Is it all surf shacks and hostels, or can you find something a little more upscale like resorts and boutique hotels in Siargao?

Short answer: yes to all of it.

Siargao has a bit of everything—great hostels, cute boutique hotels, coliving spaces, and some really nice resorts too. It’s kind of for everyone, as cheesy as that sounds. Whether you’re here to surf, backpack, eat your way around the island, or just relax at a resort, there’s something for you. That said, Siargao’s luxury is more laid-back boutique than big-resort Boracay vibes—and that’s exactly why I love it.

While this post is just a personal review of the hotel I liked most, I’ll also include a few alternatives below. And if you want a full breakdown of the best areas and hotels I’ve actually stayed at, check out my full guide on Where to Stay in Siargao.

The Best Hotel in Siargao Philippines – My Experience

While I was in Siargao, I stayed all over the place. I wanted to try out different areas and different types of accommodation—from a budget hotel in General Luna to a cute little apartment in Santa Fe called Casitas Santa Fe, with some weekend trips to North Siargao too.

Early on in my trip, we went to have breakfast at The Spotted Pig Cafe, which was absolutely packed. The staff offered us a table at the Las Palmas restaurant right behind it—same menu, same kitchen—and that’s when we noticed the hotel. It instantly reminded us of a little boutique hotel we stayed at in Sri Lanka, and right then and there, we said: we’re staying here before we leave.

For our final two nights in Siargao, we booked Las Palmas Villas—and it was the perfect send-off. From the moment we checked in, the staff couldn’t have been more helpful. Like, actually helpful. Not fake-smiley helpful. Our room was a Deluxe Double with a balcony upstairs, and it was gorgeous. Super spacious, tastefully designed, and the semi-outdoor shower setup was beautiful—open and breezy without ever feeling too exposed.

The room overlooked the pool, and since we were in a corner unit, it was quiet even though the hotel is right in the heart of General Luna. Speaking of the pool: it was definitely a highlight for me. Big enough to swim laps in, surrounded by comfy sunbeds, and it actually gets sun all day—very important detail.

Location-wise, it’s ideal. Right in the middle of General Luna, close to tons of restaurants and cafés, but it never felt too loud or hectic. And of course, with Las Palmas’ own restaurant and The Spotted Pig café right outside, you’ve got some of the best food on the island literally at your doorstep.

I’d recommend Las Palmas to anyone looking for a boutique-style stay that feels upscale but not over-the-top. It’s stylish, well-located, not outrageously priced, and hits that perfect sweet spot between comfort, design, and convenience.

Las Palmas Villas & Casitas – My Top Hotel in Siargao

Aside from my personal experience, I figured you’d probably want some actual info on the hotel too. So here’s a more detailed breakdown of what Las Palmas has to offer.

Rooms

Las Palmas has a mix of room types—Deluxe Double Rooms with a balcony (like the one I stayed in), Family Rooms, and standalone cabanas (which are more like one-bedroom villas). I obviously only stayed in one, but if you’re booking on Booking.com, I chose the Deluxe Double with Balcony.

Our room was super spacious and seriously clean—like, properly spotless. The bed was big and comfy, and the balcony had a cushioned sofa-style bench that was ideal for a slow morning coffee. There was a good amount of storage, two bedside tables (with plenty of power plugs, thank god), and even a desk and chair—which is always a win for me since I sometimes work from my room.

The TV had Netflix included (yes, I checked), and the air-con was not just cold but quiet, which is not always a given in the Philippines.

Swimming Pool

There’s not a ton to say here other than: it’s great. The pool is surprisingly big for a boutique hotel—big enough that I swam laps every morning before coffee. There are lots of seating options, including four sunbeds actually set into the pool itself, which looks cool and feels kind of luxe.

Staff cleaned the pool every morning, and they don’t allow non-guests to use it, which I loved. It never felt crowded or chaotic—just calm, clean, and peaceful.

Restaurant & Food

So this one’s a bit of a hybrid setup. I’m still not 100% sure if The Spotted Pig Cafe is technically part of Las Palmas or if they’re just working together, but you can order from The Spotted Pig menu while sitting in the Las Palmas restaurant—which I did, most mornings. Their breakfast is delicious.

I did eat dinner at the Las Palmas restaurant once. It’s Filipino cuisine with a slightly upscale twist. I had the chicken adobo and the tuna steak—both very tasty. That said, I’m not a huge fan of Filipino food in general (no offense!), so most evenings we headed out to try the amazing restaurants around Siargao.

Staff & Service

The staff here were genuinely lovely. Super helpful with everything—from carrying our bags upstairs to organizing our scooter rental and giving tips on places to check out. And they were just friendly and chatty, in a way that felt warm and personal without being overbearing.

Everything—from the rooms to the pool to the common areas—was spotless. We could’ve had fresh towels every day if we wanted, including extras for the pool, and they even offered to change our sheets, even though we were only there for two nights.

Alternative Hotels in Siargao

Siargao is a pretty big island, and while Las Palmas Villas & Casitas is located in General Luna—the main tourist town in the south—there are tons of other great places to stay, especially if you’re after something a little more peaceful or off the beaten path.

Bravo Beach Resort Siargao:

A larger, more established resort with a beautiful pool area and a fun cocktail bar on-site. It’s one of the most popular Siargao resorts, and for good reason—it has that classic island-meets-modern-resort vibe that works really well.

Vedya Boutique Hostel:

Hands down the most beautifully designed hostel in Siargao. It’s definitely on the higher end price-wise (for a hostel), but it’s super clean, stylish, and feels more like a boutique hotel. If you want hostel social vibes without compromising on aesthetics, this is it.

Izustarri:

Probably the most unique stay in North Siargao. It’s a gorgeous cliffside mansion with its own private pool and a super chic design. It’s not just a place to sleep—it’s an experience. Great if you want something really special.

Casitas Santa Fe:

This is where we lived for a bit during our stay in Santa Fe, and honestly, it felt like our dream little island home. It’s cozy, well-equipped, and perfect for longer stays. If you’re looking to settle into island life for a while, this spot is perfect.

When Is the Best Time to Visit Siargao Philippines ?

The best time to visit is usually around April and May, which marks the beginning of the dry season—and also the high season. The rain starts to ease up, and you finally get those blue skies and sunshine you’re probably dreaming about. That said, it does get a bit busy during this time.

You could try March or even September and October for fewer crowds, but you’ll be taking more of a gamble with the weather—expect a few rainy days here and there. Just whatever you do, avoid Holy Week (Easter Week). It’s a super popular local travel time in the Philippines, and everything will be fully booked and absolutely packed.

How to Get to Siargao

This one’s simple: just book a flight. It’s the most convenient—and honestly the only reasonable—way to get there. Most routes go through Cebu, so whether you’re coming from Manila or elsewhere in the country, expect a quick layover in Cebu. There are a few direct flights from Manila, but they tend to be more expensive.

Once you arrive at the airport in Siargao, there are air-conditioned minivans waiting to take you straight to General Luna. They’ll drop you off right at your hotel for a fixed rate of 300 pesos, which is great because you don’t have to haggle. You can also ask your hotel to arrange a private transfer if you prefer.

FAQs About the Best Hotel in Siargao

What Are the Best Resorts in Siargao?

If you’re talking proper resorts, I’d say Bravo Beach Resort Siargao. It actually feels like a resort—with a beachfront location, a great pool, and a buzzing restaurant and cocktail bar. My personal favorite, Las Palmas, is more of a luxury boutique hotel vibe than a full resort, but Bravo definitely fits the classic resort definition.

What Is the Best Beachfront Hotel in Siargao?

Honestly, Bravo Beach Resort again—it’s right on the beach and just looks stunning. If you’re after something a little quieter and more intimate, you might also like Siago Beach Resort, which has more of an upscale, low-key vibe compared to Bravo.

What Is the Best Luxury Hotel in Siargao?

I’d go with Las Palmas Villas. It’s not over-the-top luxury, but it’s definitely one of the most beautiful and well-designed places I stayed in. Super clean, cozy, with amazing staff and a great pool. There isn’t really any 5 star hotel in Siargao, so for something that feels upscale without being too fancy, Las Palmas is a top pick.

Does Siargao Have Good Food?

Absolutely. Siargao has hands down the best food I’ve had in the Philippines. The restaurants are amazing—CEV is probably my favorite (a cute little ceviche place). The cafes are top-tier too, especially White Beard and Marmalade. Whether you’re into smoothie bowls, seafood, or just great coffee, Siargao is a foodie hotspot.

Final Thoughts on the Best Place to Stay in Siargao

I really think Siargao as a whole is kind of amazing—from the restaurants to the hotels to everything there is to do, it’s just a great place. The hotel scene especially surprised me in the best way, and my favorite spot to stay was definitely Las Palmas Villas.

Of course, I haven’t stayed at every single hotel in Siargao—this article is based purely on my own experience. But honestly, I doubt most of those “14 Best Hotels in Siargao” lists out there are written by people who’ve actually stayed in more than one or two places either.

For me, Las Palmas was the best hotel in Siargao. But there are plenty of other beautiful boutique hotels, villas, and resorts across the island, so I’m sure you’ll find something that suits your style.

Just one tip: Siargao is getting more and more popular, especially with vacationers, so if you’ve got your eye on a place—book it early. Things sell out quickly. Happy travels!
