Where to Stay in Port Barton Philippines: My Top Hotels & Areas (2025)
Port Barton in Palawan is a small beach town and honestly, one of my favorite little places in the Philippines.
It’s not far from El Nido, but in my experience, it’s way more relaxed, less touristy, and just a nicer place to slow down for a few days. The beaches are beautiful, the town is laid-back, and it’s perfect if you want to get away from the crowds.
I spent about a week in Port Barton just to be lazy, read my book on the beach and eat some good food under the palm trees. I checked out a bunch of beaches, enjoyed the small-town vibes, and quickly realized I liked it way more than El Nido (the town is just cuter, for sure).
In this guide, I’ll walk you through where to stay in Port Barton Palawan, which areas I liked most, and the hotels I’d personally recommend, based on my own experience.

Where to Stay in Port Barton – My Experience
I stayed in Port Barton for about a week and ended up trying out two different places, which is something I actually do pretty often when I travel. Partly because I’m a travel blogger, so it gives me more to talk about, but also because I just enjoy seeing different sides of a place and switching things up a bit.
Port Barton is really small. Like, you can walk from one end of town to the other in maybe 15 minutes. I loved that. The roads are just dusty little paths with barely any cars, which reminded me a lot of places like Hiriketiya in Sri Lanka or the Gili Islands in Indonesia which is definitely more my kind of vibe.
Since everything is so close, I honestly don’t think location matters that much. Almost anywhere you stay will be walkable. I first spent three nights right in the center of town at a cute little hotel in Port Barton called Parrots Boutique Resort, which I really liked.
After that, I moved slightly outside of town and stayed at La Palapa Inn Port Barton, which is located right in the hills with amazing views and a much quieter feel.
Looking back, I think I slightly preferred the location of La Palapa, it felt a bit more peaceful, but both were great, and I’d easily recommend either one. I’ll link both of them below so you can check them out.
In general, I wouldn’t stress too much about where to stay in Port Barton. Just try to stay somewhere close-ish to town so you’re not too far from the restaurants and beach.
Also, just a heads up, accommodation in Port Barton is definitely more on the ‘boutique’ side. It’s small guesthouses and local-run hotels rather than big beach resorts. If you’re after something more resort-style, El Nido might be a better fit.

Best Areas to Stay in Port Barton Palawan
Port Barton Town
Port Barton town is basically the heart of everything, and it’s tiny. Just a handful of dirt roads lined with little hotels, hostels, beach bars, restaurants, and cafes. I loved how walkable and laid-back it felt. There are barely any cars, people are just strolling around barefoot, and the whole vibe is super chill.
That said, there is a bit of a party scene here, especially on the weekends. You’ll find a lot of backpackers, and it can definitely get loud and busy. But other than that, I think it’s the perfect spot to stay if you want convenience and to be close to everything.
Outside of Town
When I say “outside of town,” I really just mean the outskirts, so still totally walkable. Most places are within 10-15 minutes from the center, so you’re not out in the middle of nowhere or anything.
I actually loved staying a little further out. It was quieter, more peaceful, and just felt a bit more serene overall. Port Barton is the kind of place I like to slow down, read my book, chill by the pool, relax in the sunshine, and for that, being located a little away from the center of town was perfect.

1. Best Hotels in Port Barton Town
Parrots Boutique Resort
Parrots Boutique Resort is where I stayed in Port Barton and I had an amazing experience. First off, there are only a handful of more upscale hotels in town, and this is definitely one of them.
We stayed in the Queen Suite, and the room was super cute, decorated with thoughtful little details, a comfortable bed, and lots of natural light. It honestly reminded me of some of the hotels I’ve stayed at in Siargao or even Bali.
There was a shared kitchen that seemed well-equipped (though we didn’t end up using it), and a small swimming pool, which I loved. I don’t think Port Barton Beach is the kind of place where you’d hang out all day, so I really appreciated having a pool and I spent quite a bit of time there, and it was perfect.
Honestly, this is one of the best resorts in Port Barton, and I’d absolutely recommend it.

Hotel Oasis Port Barton
Hotel Oasis was one of the other places I considered before booking Parrots Boutique Resort. It’s not quite as cute or upscale, but it looked like a pretty good alternative to me.
The vibe here is definitely more basic, so don’t expect stylish decor or boutique touches, but it has what you need: clean rooms, a decent location, and a big pool. And honestly, that pool is kind of essential in Port Barton. I wouldn’t want to swim at the main beach all day, and during jellyfish season, the ocean’s a no-go anyway.
It also has its own restaurant and bar, which is always a plus if you don’t feel like venturing out for every meal. If you’re after something more budget-friendly but still comfortable, this would be a good pick.

Azuls Tourist Inn
If I was still full-on budget backpacking, I’d absolutely stay here. Azul’s Tourist Inn is such a good deal with private rooms under $30 a night, and they actually look cute and clean with a comfy bed and everything you really need.
From what I read (and triple-checked while researching), the showers have hot water, the Wi-Fi works well, and the rooms are spotless. Plus, the location is super central so you can walk pretty much anywhere in town. For a budget traveler, this place ticks all the boxes.

Villa in Port Barton
We’ve done quite a few big family trips in the past or had our families visit us somewhere on the road and honestly, renting a villa or holiday home is always more fun than booking a bunch of hotel rooms. There’s just something about hanging out in the living room together, snacking in the kitchen, and maybe even having a private pool to yourselves.
I actually found a great-looking private villa in Port Barton. It has three bedrooms, sleeps six, and comes with a big sofa and an open-plan kitchen/living area. I’d totally stay here with my family or a small group of friends. It’s not super fancy, but it looks cozy and kind of affordable too, definitely a solid option if you’re traveling as a group.

2. Best Port Barton Hotels Outside of Town
La Palapa Inn Port Barton
Like I mentioned earlier, there really aren’t that many nice hotels in Port Barton, but La Palapa Inn is definitely one of the few that stand out. I stayed there for two nights and honestly thought it was amazing.
I really liked the overall vibe and decor, it felt thoughtful and well put together, kind of similar to Parrots Boutique Resort. The rooms were spacious, the air-conditioning worked great, and the whole place gave off a bit of a Bali-esque feel (if that makes sense).
The property itself is set slightly up in the hills, surrounded by greenery and with beautiful views all around. I also really appreciated the pool in Port Barton that can feel like a necessity, especially when it gets super hot. We even had our laundry done here, and it came back perfect. It was also surprisingly affordable, which was a nice little bonus.

Teteng’s Apartelle
When I was looking into places to stay, having a swimming pool was definitely a priority, so most of the spots I’m listing here come with one. Teteng’s Apartelle was actually one of the places I considered before I found La Palapa Inn, and I think it’s a solid option.
The rooms and interiors are definitely more on the basic side, but it’s also more affordable, so that trade-off makes sense. The main reason I would’ve stayed here, though, is the pool. If you’re after an affordable private room with a swimming pool, this place ticks the box.

Moon Bar Hostel
I actually found Moon Bar Hostel kind of by accident. I had dinner across the road at Baryo Bistro (I highly recommend it, amazing homemade, elevated Filipino food), and then spotted Moon Bar just up the hill, so I went there for a drink afterwards.
The bar has incredible views over the ocean and Port Barton since it’s perched up on a hill. At the time, I didn’t even realize it was a hostel, but I got chatting with the staff and they ended up showing me around a bit. The place is super cute, basic but clean, with modern bathrooms and spacious private rooms.
If I were backpacking solo, I’d definitely stay here. The views from the bar are amazing, the prices are reasonable, and the vibe felt pretty social too. It could be a good spot to meet people.

FAQs About Accommodation in Port Barton
What are the best things to do in Port Barton?
My favorite thing to do in Port Barton was renting a kayak and paddling over to White Beach and Coconut Beach. Super peaceful and just beautiful. There’s also a Port Barton island hopping tour that’s really popular.
How to get to Port Barton?
I always recommend booking a private or shared van transfer from El Nido or Puerto Princesa to Port Barton. I usually arrange mine through the accommodation, but you can also book them online pretty easily.
Where is Port Barton, Palawan?
Port Barton is roughly halfway between El Nido and Puerto Princesa on the west coast of Palawan. It’s a small, sleepy beach town and refreshingly untouristy.
Is Port Barton worth visiting?
If you’ve got time and aren’t focused on big sightseeing spots, then yes, definitely. It’s a cute little beach town that’s perfect for doing nothing. But if you’re short on time, I’d probably prioritize El Nido and Coron over Port Barton.
Final Thoughts on the Best Place to Stay in Port Barton
To wrap this up, Port Barton in general is a bit more basic than El Nido, especially when it comes to accommodation. I had an amazing time in El Nido and stayed at some of the most beautiful beach resorts there, but I never liked El Nido town. It always felt kind of dirty, touristy, and without much character.
Port Barton, to me, is basically the opposite. The town itself is super cute and charming, with small shops, local cafés, and cozy little restaurants. But the accommodation options here are simpler, which I honestly don’t mind at all.
If you are looking for something a bit more elevated, I’d recommend Parrots Boutique Resort or La Palapa Inn. I stayed at both and definitely recommend them.
I hope this little guide on where to stay in Port Barton Palawan helps you find the perfect place for your next trip.
