Where We Stayed in San Cristobal de las Casas

Let’s start with where we stayed in San Cristobal de las Casas. I love starting here because it gives you a feel for what we liked about the hotels, the neighborhoods we explored the most, and even a few things we maybe weren’t so crazy about.

We spent four nights in San Cristobal and split our time between two very different spots. For the first two nights, we stayed at the Coffee Bean Hostel. Yep, we’re backpackers at heart and wanted to soak in that social vibe—and honestly, it was awesome. This hostel has a great laid-back, friendly atmosphere, and the location couldn’t be better. It’s in a very central location right on Real de Guadalupe Street, so you’re close to all the action. The beds were super comfy, they have free WiFi access, and they even offer free snacks and coffee all day long.

For the rest of our trip, we decided to treat ourselves and moved to the most adorable boutique hotel: Taller de Juan Casa Hotel. Wow, this place was such a highlight of our time in Mexico. First of all, it’s stunning. The hotel blends a modern, artsy vibe with traditional colonial architecture, and it’s honestly so unique. The private rooms are spacious and beautifully designed, and the location is spot-on—it’s right in the town center, just a short walk from the central park.

If you’re looking to splurge a little, I can’t recommend Taller de Juan enough. I’ve added a few photos below so you can see how beautiful it is!
