Where to Stay in Siquijor Island Philippines: My Top Areas and Hotels in 2025

When I first added Siquijor to my Philippines itinerary, it was mostly because I kept seeing it pop up in reels on Instagram. Turquoise waterfalls, jungle swings, beaches that looked totally untouched. But once I got there, I realized it still didn’t feel nearly as touristy as places like El Nido, Cebu, or Siargao. And that’s exactly what made me like it so much.

Siquijor is rugged in the best way. It’s quiet, it’s raw, and it’s got this kind of mysterious energy to it. They call it the Island of Fire, and the local legends about witchcraft and healing traditions definitely definitely add to the vibe. But more than anything, it just feels real and authentic.

After spending over a week on the island, I’ve got a pretty good sense of which areas are best to base yourself in and what kind of traveler they suit. I also have a few hotel recommendations that I think are genuinely good value and would stay at again.

So if you’re planning a trip and wondering where to stay in Siquijor, here’s what I’d suggest based on my own experience.

Where to Stay in Siquijor – My Experience

I spent just over a week on Siquijor, and as usual, I hopped around a bit to try different areas and styles of accommodation. Personally, I like mixing it up. I’m not into backpacker dorms, but I also don’t want to stay at a big beach resort the whole time and miss the actual vibe of a place. So I usually test out a few spots and that worked out really well on Siquijor.

I started off in the heart of San Juan at Mhari Bungalows, which turned out to be a perfect little base. It’s simple, affordable, and clean, nothing fancy, but it had everything I needed. The location couldn’t have been better either: I was right in town, walking distance to restaurants, shops, and the beach. San Juan was hands down my favorite area to stay in. If you want some nightlife, a few good food spots, and not to feel totally cut off, this is where you want to be.

Next, I moved over to Mandala Tribe Treehouses, which were honestly gorgeous. You’re surrounded by jungle, there’s natural light flooding into the rooms in the morning, and the whole vibe just felt peaceful. Still close to San Juan, but far enough out that I could hear the birds instead of scooters. It was one of my favorite places I stayed and definitely recommend it if you like being somewhere a little quieter but still convenient.

For my last couple of nights, I splurged a little and booked into Runik Siquijor, which felt like a slice of Bali right on the beach. It’s adults-only, has glamping tents (with A/C!), a beautiful pool, and a beach club kind of vibe. Super comfy, super aesthetic, and just a really nice way to end the trip. If you’re down to spend a bit more, it’s worth it.

Best Areas to Stay in Siquijor Island

Here’s a quick breakdown of the 4 main areas in Siquijor. The island isn’t huge, but it’s big enough that where you stay will shape your trip, so it’s worth thinking about.

That said, I’ll be honest: for about 90% of travelers, San Juan is the best area to stay in Siquijor. The other areas are great if you’re after something more remote or off-the-grid, but for most people, San Juan just makes the most sense.

San Juan

This was easily my favorite area to stay in Siquijor. It’s the main tourist zone but don’t let that fool you. “Town” might be generous; it’s more of a coastal road lined with restaurants, beach bars, and guesthouses. It’s super low-key and not built-up at all.
You’ll find a few pretty good restaurants here like Shaka Siquijor, Baha Ba’r, and Dolce Amore, but it’s nothing like the busy, fancy vibe of General Luna in Siargao or anything in Bali. That’s what I loved about it, it’s convenient, near great beaches, has everything you need, but still feels chill and real.

Lazi

Lazi is more of a local town, but if you’re looking for something a bit quieter while still having some energy, this is a great choice. It’s close to Cambugahay Falls and the Lazi Church, and there are a few decent beach resorts nearby. The town itself has some surprisingly decent little eateries too. It’s less touristy than San Juan, but definitely still worth considering, especially if you want to be near the waterfalls.

Maria

Maria covers most of the east coast and it’s much quieter over here. You’ll find a few resorts and beach hotels, but it’s mostly a local area. One big plus: Salagdoong Beach is nearby, which is a popular cliff diving and beach day spot. If you’re on a tighter budget or want something quieter with more space, this area could work well. Just don’t expect nightlife or boutique cafés.

Larena

This one’s for the true off-the-grid crowd. Larena is up on the north side of the island, and it’s very quiet and very rural. Not much around but beach, jungle, and the occasional goat. You’ll definitely want a scooter if you’re staying out here. That said, there are some cool, simple beachfront hotels that are super affordable. If you’re into a more  raw island life without restaurants, crowds, or Wi-Fi that works, Larena is is actually a great spot.

1. Siquijor Hotels & Beach Resorts in San Juan

Nakabalo Guesthouse

IMO The Best Place to Stay in Siquijor!

Nakabalo Guesthouse is a place we found by chance, just by spending a day at their pool. And honestly, it’s got to be one of the most unique places to stay in Siquijor. We bought a day pass for the hillside infinity pool, and it was incredible. The views over the ocean were stunning, and the whole place had a peaceful, remote vibe without being too far from San Juan. The guesthouse itself sits up on a hill, has clean, affordable rooms, and that pool alone makes it worth considering for your stay.

Jungle Kingdome Guest House

Another hidden gem we stumbled across, this time thanks to their cafe, bar and sunset views. Jungle Kingdome is located in the hills above San Juan and has a gorgeous little café and bar that’s perfect for drinks at golden hour. What makes this place stand out, though, are their jungle domes. And not the flimsy plastic kind you see in Instagram ads, these are proper, stylish, well-built domes that look super cozy and unique. I didn’t stay here, but I saw the rooms and met the owners, a British guy and his American wife, who built the entire place themselves. You can tell it’s a passion project, and they absolutely nailed it.

Coco Grove Beach Resort // Best Resort in Siquijor

Coco Grove Beach Resort is probably the biggest and maybe the best resort Siquijor. We didn’t stay there, but honestly, I kind of wish we had. You’ll probably spot it at some point anyway, it’s the huge terracotta-orange complex you see while driving up and down the main road in San Juan. It’s right next to the Tubod Marine Sanctuary, has its own private beach, multiple pools, and really beautiful rooms. Definitely more on the higher-end side, but if you’re in the mood to splurge a bit, Coco Grove Siquijor is one of the best Siquijor resorts.

Runik Siquijor

We saved Runik for the end of our trip, and it was definitely the most Bali-esque experience we had on the island. It’s a bit more upscale and design-forward than other resorts in Siquijor, and we loved that. The whole place is stunning, with a sleek pool area right on the beach and cute little glamping tents that feel more like boutique hotel rooms. This was actually my first time glamping, and I was seriously impressed. The bed was insanely comfy, the tent was super chic (yes, chic), and it even had AC. I slept like an actual baby.

Mandala Tribe Treehouses

This was our mid-trip stay, and it might be my favorite. While I do love San Juan, I almost always prefer staying just outside the main town, somewhere a little quieter, surrounded by jungle and palm trees. That way I can fully unwind, but still scoot into town when I feel like being social. Mandala Tribe Treehouses was perfect for that. The rooms were spacious and had private bathrooms, but still felt simple, cozy, and totally serene. Waking up there felt like I was in the middle of a tropical daydream.

2. My Top Siquijor Accommodation in Lazi

Lazi Beach Club Resort // One of The Cheapest Beach Resorts in Siquijor

Lazi Beach Club Resort might just be the best value-for-money stay on the island. It’s pretty simple and definitely not upscale, but it’s got a super cool island feel to it. Picture little beach huts, a swimming pool tucked between palm trees, and a local-style restaurant serving Filipino dishes, all right on the beach. It’s the kind of place where you don’t get luxury, but you do get charm, comfort, and a super chill vibe. I checked, and on some days you can get a private room here for around $40 a night, which is an absolute steal.

The Gabayan Riviera

The Gabayan Riviera is another pretty good option if you’re looking for something a bit nicer but still affordable. It’s a small resort with a nice pool and beachfront location in Lazi (though fair warning, it’s kind of in the middle of nowhere). The rooms are private villas, many with sea views and their own little porch setups, which I thought was a nice touch. It’s still pretty simple overall, but the setup feels more put together than the usual budget resorts. Great value if you want a quiet stay without spending a fortune.

3. Best Siquijor Hotels in Maria

Beach Front White House Villa

This one’s definitely something special in Maria. The design is… well, everyone has their own taste, but it lives up to the name: it’s an all-white, three-bedroom private villa right on a quiet stretch of beach. With white sand, palm trees all around, and no one else in sight. That alone makes it worth considering. If you’re traveling with family or a small group of friends and want your own space with total privacy, this is actually perfect.

The Bangka Beach Guesthouse

If you’re planning to spend a night or two on the east coast of Siquijor, just for a little change of scenery then Bangka Beach Guesthouse is a great budget-friendly option. It’s made up of simple wooden huts, has a swimming pool, and feels very quiet and tucked away. Nothing fancy, but it’s peaceful, affordable, and surrounded by nature. Perfect for a short, low-key escape.

4. Best Larena Hotels in Siquijor

Islanders Paradise Beach

If you want to fully unplug, Islanders Paradise Beach in Larena is exactly that kind of escape. It’s super remote, right on a quiet stretch of beach with nothing but palm trees and ocean in front of you. The rooms are simple—just little huts a few steps from the sand—but they come with a private bathroom, air conditioning, and a hammock outside. It’s peaceful, super affordable, and honestly a great pick if you’re after that barefoot, no-distractions island vibe.

Infinity Heights Resort

This place is up in the hills instead of by the beach, but the views are next level. Infinity Heights Resort sits way above Siquijor with an infinity pool that looks out over the ocean—easily one of the best pool views on the island. The rooms are private little villas, basic but clean, with hot water and everything you need. There’s an on-site restaurant too, but the real draw here is the peaceful location and those sunsets from the pool.

FAQs About Staying in Siquijor

Are Siquijor beaches pretty?

Yes and honestly, way prettier than I expected. You’ll find long white sand beaches, clear turquoise water, and palm trees everywhere. Some are tucked away and super quiet, others are livelier and closer to beach resorts. If you’re staying in San Juan, you’ll have easy access to several great beaches, but it’s worth exploring the island to find your favorite. Paliton Beach is deifnitely the best beach in Siquijor!

When is the best time to visit Siquijor?

Dry season runs from around December to May, and that’s definitely the best time to go if you want sunny weather and calm seas.

Are there good restaurants in Siquijor?

Yes, especially around San Juan. You won’t get the variety you’d find in places like Siargao or Bali, but there are some great spots for both local food and Western options. I liked places like Baha Ba’r, Dolce Amore, and Shaka for breakfast.

Can I work remotely in Siquijor?

You can, but I wouldn’t call it a digital nomad hotspot. Some hotels and cafés offer decent Wi-Fi , but don’t expect coworking spaces or super fast speeds everywhere.

Final Thoughts on the Best Hotels in Siquijor

Siquijor has a little bit of everything—rustic beach huts, hillside resorts, glamping tents, and the occasional luxury stay. I’ve stayed in a few different places across the island, and honestly, each one had something I really liked. Whether you want to be near the action in San Juan, chill by the waterfalls in Lazi, or completely disconnect in Larena or Maria, there’s something here for you.

My personal favorite was probably Mandala Tribe Treehouses. I loved being tucked away in the jungle but still close enough to San Juan to zip in when I felt like it. But if you’re after views, that pool at Nakabalo is hard to beat, and for something a bit more upscale, Runik was a nice little treat at the end of my trip.

Wherever you end up staying, don’t overthink it too much. Siquijor is one of those places where it’s more about the vibe than the luxury.
